The Apprentice Ship Cup 2016 started from Liverpool on June 4th, the same weekend as the Merseyside River Festival. 124 young apprentices, students and employees took to the sea aboard 4 magnificent tall ships – Bessie Ellen, Pelican of London, Maybe and Irene – on a journey that took them to Milford Haven, Falmouth and Southampton.
Among the many companies and institutions that sent their young people in 2016 were Evolve, Regenda, Associated British Ports, Sellafield, Marine and Rescue, Nuvia, Pendennis, Sea Fair Haven, Cammell Lairds, V Ships, RS Clare, Liverpool University and Get Rag. Those young people experienced what is known as Sail Training, a course in personal and professional development championed by youth organisations, multi-national corporations and even navies from across the world.
The achievements of those who took part were once again celebrated with an awards dinner at Merseyside Maritime Museum. You can see highlights of that event by Clicking Here.
