Peter Cosgrove, General Manager, Glendale Liverpool, Reflects on the 2014 Apprentice Cup
“The journey for me was quite incredible. It achieved things for me that I couldn’t imagine. It was absolutely fantastic. It’s life changing, a life changing experience”
Peter Cosgrove and his team of mentors and apprentices are taking part again in the 2015 Apprentice Challenge. See the new recruits and their first visit to a tall ship
How Glendale’s team raised money in 2014
A team of 15 Glendale Liverpool employees are taking on the challenge to climb both Scarfel Pike and Snowdon within a 14 hour period.
The combined height of over 6,700 feet will certainly challenge the 11 apprentices, and in particular the pre apprentices who only 5 months ago were Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET). The apprentices will be joined by 4 of the Glendale Liverpool management team who will provide support to the cabin crew and mentor the apprentices.
The challenge will take place on Friday 2nd May 2014.
Peter Cosgrove, David Charnock, Frank Boyle, Adam Roman, Ellie Jeffrey Colin Millea, David Mohammed, Jacque Murphy, Thomas Rice, Tate Whitaker Wayne Dowling, Alex Lambert, Adam Ryan, Shaun Stevens and Ieuan Townley.
The purpose of the challenge is to fund raise and support a life changing opportunity to participate in a Tall Ships Race competing for the ApprenticeSHIP Cup.
The apprentices will join the Pelican, a 34 metre Tall Ship on the 15th June 2014 during the Mersey River Festival and will set sail on a 6 day sailing adventure eventually docking at Whitehaven on the 21st June 2014. This regatta will provide opportunity to challenge, stretch, and develop the apprentices in a challenging but safe environment.
To celebrate the event, the organisers, Merseyside Adventure Sailing Trust (MAST) has arranged an awards dinner to be held at Hope University on the 28th June 2014. Hopefully Glendale Liverpool will be crowned the winner of the Apprentice Ship Cup.
This challenge will be taking place on Friday 2nd May 2014 Thanking you in advance for all your kind donations which are gratefully received.
